The vases are inspired by a love story. The shape of the vases is based on the morphology of Ancient ceramics and their black and red illustrations, symbols and signs. The author @yulinhuang_ tried to replace the patterns with expressive means of the 21st century, emoticons from Instagram. In combination with the historicist shape and the traditional technique of hand-mable glass, you create a very special story of how today's antique vase would probably look in the future.

Designer

Yulin Huang

Yulin Huang is a Nový Bor based Taiwanese designer. As a designer and maker with a porcelain major, she fell in love with the crystal clear glass in Czech Republic while studying mater in 2017 at UMPRUM glass studio.

With a native background from Asia, Yulin has been greatly influenced by different cultures and crafts techniques. Her goal is to explore the new phase of glassmaking, challenges to create novel expressions of glass itself and appreciate the nature state of glass.

In creating, she also likes to take inspiration from Asian aesthetics plays with European culture. And sees the material relation with the mother nature and our daily lives; extract the essence of the material and transfer it into a poetic, artistic object.
